February 14th is observed as “Rajabhat Day” in Thailand. In the year 1992, during the tenure of Prime Minister Anand Panyarachun, the Cabinet resolved to broaden the scope of educational management for teacher colleges nationwide. This transformed these institutions, which were originally vocational colleges designed to provide narrow vocational education, into broader educational institutions. The Teachers’ Training Department under the Ministry of Education, which is now known as the Office of the Higher Education Commission, was responsible for training teachers at these colleges. Therefore, invoking the grace and benevolence of His Majesty the King, it has been graciously commanded that all Teachers Colleges be renamed as "Rajabhat Institutes" by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on February 14, 1992, bestowing great honor and auspiciousness upon the Rajabhat Institutes and on March 6, 2538, His Majesty graciously bestowed the royal emblem as the official emblem of Rajabhat University nationwide, symbolizing the utmost royal benevolence and magnanimity. It is a source of great pride for all Rajabhat University members across the country. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama 9, graciously bestowed the name 'Rajabhat' and the university emblem as a mark of the highest royal benevolence and honor to the people of all Rajabhat universities throughout the kingdom. 'Rajabhat' means 'royal personnel'.
